APi Electric
has been a fixture in Northern Minnesota for almost a century.
Its doors first opened, as Thompson Electric, in 1919 in Cloquet,
where it installed and serviced fire alarms and police call
boxes. Thompson Electric began electrical contracting around
1928. Over the decades, the company has branched in different
directions and changed hands several times. APi
Group, Inc. purchased Thompson Electric in 2001. In 2003
APi Group, Inc. merged Thompson Electric with Lakehead Electric
to form APi Electric.

APi Electric Company is the combination of Lakehead Electric
and Thompson Electric Company, both of these companies have
served Northern Minnesota for more than half a century. Regional offices

in Cloquet,
Grand Marais, Cook, Hibbing, Brainerd Lakes Area and St.
Cloud serving residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout
Northern Minnesota.
